Am Freitag, dem 01.05.2026<\/strong> ver\u00f6ffentlicht Weird Nightmare \u201eHoopla\u201c<\/strong>, das mitrei\u00dfende und melodische zweite Album von Alex Edkins<\/strong>, dem ehemaligen Frontmann von METZ<\/strong> via Sub Pop Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jede Band, die etwas auf sich h\u00e4lt, hat ein Mitglied, das in einem Plattenladen gearbeitet hat. Bei METZ, dem furchtlosen Noise-Rock-Trio, das zwischen 2012 und 2024 f\u00fcnf Alben bei Sub Pop Records ver\u00f6ffentlichte, war es S\u00e4nger und Gitarrist Alex Edkins. W\u00e4hrend seines Studiums verkaufte er Indie-Rock- und Hardcore-Platten im Plattenladen seiner Heimatstadt und wurde so zu einem passionierten Kenner des Rock \u2019n\u2019 Roll \u2013 von den psychedelischen 60er-Jahren \u00fcber die DIY-\u00c4ra der 90er bis hin zu den sp\u00e4teren Generationen. Das neue Weird Nightmare Album \u201eHoopla\u201c vereint diese vielf\u00e4ltigen Einfl\u00fcsse zu mitrei\u00dfenden und unterhaltsamen Kompositionen und zeugt von Edkins\u2019 ausgefeiltem musikalischen Talent. Es strotzt nur so vor Ohrw\u00fcrmern und eing\u00e4ngigen Melodien.<\/p>\n

Das Album wurde von Edkins und Jim Eno von Spoon in „Seth Manchesters Machines With Magnets Studio in Providence“ Rhode Island koproduziert. Edkins erweitert den Sound von Weird Nightmare und verleiht den direkten Emotionen seiner geradlinigen Songtexte mit musikalischen Elementen wie Klavier, Glocken und Kastagnetten einen strahlenden Glanz.<\/p>\n

Nach der bereits ver\u00f6ffentlichten Single \u201eForever Elsewhere\u201c folgt nun der neue Song \u201eMight See You There\u201c, bei dem CC Mulligan Regie f\u00fchrte.<\/p>\n

Edkins \u00fcber die Nummer „\u2018Might See You There\u2019 is about going back to visit my hometown and being flooded with teenage nostalgia. Small-town boredom and isolation almost feel like a gift in today’s highly connected world. I feel fortunate for that time spent idly, down in the basement, learning the entire Rancid \u2018Let’s Go\u2019 album on guitar with my friends. I find it easy to romanticise that time in my life, even though I was, without question, a disgruntled kid who badly wanted to escape my surroundings and see the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was listening to a lot of the Irish bands The Undertones and Protex while writing this one, and I think there is a fair bit of their influence. Just the simplicity and big bar chords mostly.<\/p>\n

Seth Manchester and I were very into the idea of adding piano and bells to the outro, akin to the Phil Spector-produced \u2018End of the Century\u2019 album by The Ramones. The great Julianna Riolino sings with me on the choruses, too!\u201d<\/p>\n"},"caption":{"rendered":"
