Am 05.09.25 erschien Wreckless Erics<\/strong> neue Single \u201eLifeline\u201c <\/strong>– vom neuen Album \u201eEngland Screaming\u201c<\/strong> das am 21.11.25 bei Tapete Records<\/strong> erscheint.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat album has always been a regret to me because I think these songs mark my coming of age as a\u00a0
\nsongwriter, but not, alas, as a recording artist.\u201d<\/p>\n

1985 ver\u00f6ffentlichte Eric Goulden unter dem Namen Captains Of Industry ein Album mit dem Titel \u201eA Roomful Of Monkeys\u201c auf dem Label Go! Discs. Es war ein Desaster \u2013 die meisten mochten es nicht \u2013 und wo es nicht rundheraus ignoriert wurde, wurde es von der Kritik verrissen. Vierzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter beschloss er, diese zwischen 1982 und 1984 in den Medway Towns entstandenen Songs als Grundlage f\u00fcr ein neues Album zu verwenden: England Screaming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt liberated: my songwriting took on an entirely different tone. There was no one telling me what I should be writing any more, so I wrote about what was around me, stuff I knew about – drugs, home-ownership, bankruptcy and bridal wear; being from somewhere, keeping up appearances, delusion, failure\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Auf den neuen Aufnahmen spielte Eric die meisten Instrumente selbst. Sam Shepherd spielte Schlagzeug, Amy Rigby und Marc Valentine sangen im Hintergrund und steuerten zusammen mit Erics Kunstschulfreund, dem Performancek\u00fcnstler Graham Beck, Klavier bei.
\n\u201eEngland Screaming\u201c ist klanglich eine ganz andere Welt als das fade, halbherzige (Erics Worte) Originalalbum. Es ist ihm gelungen, eine junge und unerf\u00fcllte Vision mit der Weisheit und Erfahrung seiner \u00e4lteren Jahre zu verbinden und nebenbei die Frage zu stellen: how far have we actually come as a society?\u00a0<\/p>\n
