Am 13.05.22 erscheint das neue Album \u201eThis Is A Photograph“ von Kevin Morby<\/a> auf Dead Oceans<\/a> erscheint. Morby hat einen Gro\u00dfteil dieses Albums in Memphis geschrieben. Nach der Krankheit seines Vaters zog er in das Peabody Hotel und verbrachte seine Tage damit, den Tr\u00e4umern, die er bewunderte, Tribut zu zollen und sich vor ihnen zu verneigen; am Ufer des Mississippi, wo Jeff Buckley sein Ende fand; in der Nachbarschaft, wo Jay Reatard seinen letzten Tag verbrachte; im Stax-Zelt und in Graceland. Die Erscheinungen, die Morbys Tage f\u00fcllten, spuken auf der Platte!<\/p>\n

\u201eThis Is A Photograph“ als Americana zu bezeichnen, w\u00fcrde der Sache nicht gerecht werden; das Wort ist zu einem zahnlosen Begriff geworden, der Bilder von verwitterten Flaggen, rustikalem Ger\u00fcmpel und anodischem Pedal Steel hervorruft. Es ignoriert die grandiose Abgefucktheit von allem, die Morby auskostet. Wenn \u201eOh My God“ aufzeigte, wie Morby himmlisch und in st\u00e4ndiger Bewegung ist, und \u201eSundowner“ eine Studie \u00fcber lokalisierte Absichten war, dann ist \u201eThis Is A Photograph“ ein Lobgesang auf Americana, ein viszerales Leben und Tod, ein Blut auf der Leinwand, das sich ergie\u00dft. <\/p>\n
